Yandere Review - Kuroshitsuji II's Alois Trancy

alois trancy

Name: Alois Trancy
Yandere Type: Manipulative, Abusive
Role: Antagonist
[BxB]

I've been convincing myself that Alois is a yangire, but no, he just loves Claude too much.

Synopsis: Kuroshitsuji II takes place in late-nineteenth century England, where the Trancy household resides. It is set one year and three months after the dramatic conclusion of the first season. The second season introduces two new main characters: Alois Trancy, a sadistic yet cheerful earl with a tragic past, and Claude Faustus, his impassive, enigmatic butler with superlative talent. After the second episode, the season mostly follows Ciel Phantomhive and Sebastian Michaelis, and the characters of the Phantomhive household, including Elizabeth Midford.
Ciel was presumed dead at the end of the first series, but Sebastian had, in fact, never succeeded in devouring Ciel's soul to begin with.

Okay, let's talk about Alois, heavy spoiler-free.

If you're into shotas doing sadistic things like gouging out his maid's eyes then Alois is definitely for you. He is a perfect example of a person who loses interest quickly. His emotions change unpredictably from cheerfulness to irritation to extreme anger.

Although I personally like Alois, if these were real life, Alois is definitely that person I'd steer clear off, no matter how endearing he feels like in the anime. He's just waaay too sadistic. There are even times when I think Hannah (the maid) wasn't doing anything wrong, yet she still got Alois mad.

Just a note though, in my opinion, Alois seem more yangire than yandere on the first half of the series. But on the latter half, the reverse is obviously true.

I'd love too explain, but let me put a spoiler sign first.

On the first half of the season, we see flashbacks of Alois' past. His real name is actually Jim Mcken. But after his whole village burned down and everyone including his brother died, he got taken in by the Earl of Trancy household for pedophilia purposes (you know what I mean).

At first the Earl hated him because of his "filthy" eyes, but Alois was set on seducing the Earl so later on, he became his favorite bed-mate. When the Earl died, Alois took on the position of the Count of Trancy Household.

So, as you can see, Alois really seem like a yangire on this part. His actions were influenced by his dark past, by revenge, and as a payback for all humiliation he has received. He really does have a lot in common with Ciel Phantomhive.

But then came the other half of the series.

Ciel invited Alois to a duel, which ended in Alois being stabbed. It was this episode that Alois realized that Claude, his butler, wants Ciel more than him.

Alois then set out to go to the Phantomhive mansion while bleeding. And when he was about to die at the forest because of a hungry wolf, Claude came.

Personally, I cried at that scene where Alois finally let all his feelings out, how he cried that he only has Claude left; that other than his butler, he has no more; that everyone has left. It was heartbreaking seeing Alois clinging on to Claude's leg, telling him that he was "his highness."

And guess what Claude did.

He killed him. He freakin' killed Alois. I was like, NO! What the hell are you doing, you demon?!

So well, Alois died.

But in reality, only the body died. His soul was just out there, preparing to possess Ciel's body. And when he finally got a hold of Ciel's body, that's when I'm convinced that he's definitely a yandere now. Everything he's done after obtaining the body was for Claude to recognize him. Alois was just too jealous because Claude wanted Ciel's soul more.

Well, anyway, that was such a good watch. Although I still prefer the season 1. And I just wanted to say I didn't like the ending of S2 one bit (although most of the fandom were probably happy about it). Well, it's probably just my yandere way of thinking, but I really want Sebastian to devour Ciel's soul ^_^

Ahaha. I hated how Sebastian was "eternally restrained" in the end. For a demon like him to have fallen so low, that wasn't nice. I'm gonna read the manga now to wash off the bitter taste season 2 has left me. I hope the manga redeems every bad thing in the season. Bleh!

But hey, that's just my opinion.

Anyway, what do you think about Alois? Which do you like more, season 1 or 2? Do you like the ending of the season 2?
