What if your eyes reflect your emotions? How would your relationships go? Especially with someone as scary as Gaara.
Ever
since becoming the Fifth Kazekage, Gaara took on the responsibility on giving
orders and missions to ninjas. After a few months of doing so, he was already
acquainted with all of the ninjas present in the village.
Still,
there was one kunoichi who piqued his interests.
He
didn’t think it was love, or crush or anything, Just mere curiousity.
This
girl has such splendid round eyes, sometimes he wondered if it was capable of
skilled genjutsus like the Sharingan. Also, it’s shape wasn’t the only unique
thing, for her eyes seem to change color everytime.
“Your
eyes…” Gaara said after giving her the missions. “They are always orange when
you talk to me.”
The
girl’s eyes immediately widened. She blinked a few times as if she wanted her
eyes to change again. But to no avail, it stayed orange.
“Why
do you look so flustered?” Gaara pointed out. “I am merely stating the fact.
You see, I have long been observing you.”
Yes,
indeed. Whenever he sees that girl, in the market or in the academy, he would
always look at her eyes. He would always notice how they would turn blue, or
red, or black. He thought it was beautiful. But he could not think of any
reason why the color orange would show only when she was with him.
“What
that does orange mean?”
The
girl formed a lump on her throat. And suddenly, she fell down on her knees and
bowed towards the Gaara, effectively surprising him.
“I
am sorry Kazekage-sama.” The girl said without looking at his eyes. “Orange… is
the color of fear. I really am sorry. It’s just I… I…”
“It’s
okay.” Gaara interrupted, not wanting to make her say more. “It’s okay.”
A
long while after dismissing her, he stood up from his chair, walked to the
window and started to think. Sure, he knows that some people could not just
overcome his fear of him.
But
still, he couldn’t deny that he was in fact, hurt.
Deeply
hurt.
All
of a sudden, his brother Kankuro burst in.
“GAARA!
THE NINJA YOU SENT ON BORDER PATROL IS—!”
The
Kazekage immediately stood up. He readily stormed off his office and went on
his way to save the female ninja from a sudden enemy intrusion.
Riding
on his floating sand, he arrived just in time to see the enemies hurl a
thousand explosive kunais to her.
“We’re
going to take those eyes, girl!” he heard the enemy shout.
It
was then that he realized that the enemies weren’t trying to invade Suna. But
rather, trying to capture her.
And
just when the kunais are about to impale the girl, his body instinctively moved
on it’s own. He jumped in front of her and hugged her with all of his might.
In
a fraction of a second, his sand immediately enveloped the both of them. He
held her tightly as he protected themselves from the explosions. He felt her
breath on his chest as they both struggled insid the small sand shield.
“Sand
coffin”. Gaara said, activating the sand jutsu. The battle was over
immediately.
“Are
you okay?” Gaara asked after everything was over.
The
girl didn’t answer, only looked at him with her shining eyes.
Gaara
then noticed something different.
“Your
eyes… it’s pink.”
The
girl immediately blushed, her cheeks tinted with the same pink as her eyes.
Flustered for the second time this day, she broke off from Gaara’s grasp and
started to walk away.
“Hey,
why is it pink?” The Kazekage asked, walking after her.
“NOT
TELLING!” she shouted as she clumsily sped away, leaving Gaara wondering and
confused.
